Reference: The Most High and the Magic of Nature

Here-in contains sections from the Sacred Writings passed down from the Ancient Stewards to the Elves, and made public knowledge in D'nashk Re'at by decree of the Common Law.

Concerning the Character and Prophecies of the Most High:

The Still Small Voice of the Most High calls out to all the Peoples of the Known World, proclaiming His truth from nature and the conscience, and from the testimony of the Omen. Who among us has ears that hear and a heart that understands?

Hear, oh peoples of the Known World - there is One who stands above all the other gods. He is the Most High, the Creator of the Universe!

"I know, " says the Most High, "who these other gods are - where it is they came from and what their true names are. I was there when I created them, and I gave them their names. Tell me, Oh Fallen Ones, which of you can describe to Me what it was like before the universe came into being? Which of you can list all the things I have done from the beginning, and all the things I will do until the end?  I know not one. And you peoples of the Known World, can any of you explain to Me how you were created and where the soul comes from?  Can any of you create life from nothing? Can any of you accurately predict the things that will come? Can any of you change your own heart from evil to wisdom? I know not one."

"Oh peoples of the Known World, though I was angry with your rebellion, I will not be angry forever. Though I gave you what you asked for and watched as you were bound into slavery and war, I will not abandon you there. I do not take pleasure in the punishment of anyone. I would rather you turn from evil and live. Though your hearts have been darkened and if left to your own path you would never turn, I declare by my own Name that I will put the light of the sun into you and call you by name, and you will come back to Me."

"Oh peoples of the Known World, when I imagined you I did not imagine darkness and separation.  No, I have prepared a Great Banquet for thee at the end of the ages, and this is your Destiny that I declared before I made you. Why spend your labor for those who are tyrants over you and for things that do not satisfy? Come, settle down, plant your vineyards and your families in my green pasture and enjoy the fruits of your labors. Come and drink the waters of wisdom and freedom and live in the Knowledge of the Most High. I myself will make a way - I will repair our relationship to bring you back into fellowship with Me. I will raise up my Champion from the south whose origins are from Ancient Days to ride forth and set you free, and he will be a Prophet, a Priest and a King to all the Peoples of the Known World. He will establish my Kingdom of Summer and I will give you the greatest treasure of all - Friendship with Me forever. You will see my Face unveiled, and know my Secret Name that I give to those that love me. You will dwell forever in the Land of the Living and never again be cut off from it. And you will have a place in the Kingdom of Summer that will stretch from one end of the Known World to the other."

"I, the Most High, have wisdom and power beyond your understanding. I am compassionate, patient and slow to anger. Because of My great love, I will forgive evil and hatred, and with kindness and mercy I will discipline the peoples of the Known World to bring them back into the ways of wisdom.  But because of My justice, I will not let the unrelenting guilty go unpunished."

"All those who reject wisdom and live in darkness, selfishness and violence, and do not listen to the voice of correction, and do not repent of their evil and return to wisdom - they will be cut off from the Land of the Living and will not see the Great Banquet at the end of the ages. Woe to those who rebelled against wisdom and presented themselves to the peoples of the Known World as gods. The day swiftly approaches when they shall be exposed and separated into darkness forever. And all those who have chosen to submit to them will be gathered together under the banner of the Agent of Darkness who will spread the Dark Magic of the Undead across the Known World for one hour. Together they shall be cast into ever-lasting darkness with the Fallen Ones, for they have become children of darkness and have exchanged the truth for lies."

"Blessed are my servants who freely and joyfully walk here and there discovering the Story of Destiny that I have declared for them, and reflecting my Justice, Mercy and Love to all of creation. Yours shall be an ever-lasting inheritance."

Concerning the Ancient Stewards and the History of the Known World:

Tales from the First Age

Tales from the Second Age

Concerning Citizens Who Have Not Received the Knowledge of the Most High

According to the Common Law, no one shall be forced to receive the Knowledge of the Most High or to offer worship to the Most High. All such activity must be voluntary.  There are many groups who came to D'nashk Re'at during the Great Exodus and joyfully accepted the Common Law under the banner of Fulskatar the Great, but because they had just left evil tyrants who ruled with harshness and fear over them, and with the power that comes from the Dark Magic of the Undead, they were not ready to declare allegiance to a new God.  Indeed, some saw all gods as means of oppression, and looked with great suspicion upon the Most High.  But the Green Pastures of the Most High have been open to any who are willing, with hope that as time passes, some will taste of the Most High and realize that He is Good and offer their hearts freely.

Most of the these groups have maintained a form of religion passed down from their fathers and mothers that is a world view and cultural identity. However, none directly try to communicate with the demi-gods and demi-goddesses of their ancestors, for that would involve the practice of Dark Magic Ritual, which is forbidden in the Common Law.

Concerning the Magic of Nature:

The Magic of Nature was given to the Ancient Stewards during the First Age. It enables them to fulfill their Destiny as Stewards of creation according to the character and will of the Most High.

The Magic of Nature is not a force or a power, but instead it is a supernatural relationship with the Most High that is characterized by an ever increasing understanding of the Knowledge of the Most High (which includes His Character, Commandments, Deeds and Promises), and of the Architecture of Creation (which includes its Design and Purpose), together with an acceptance of one's Destiny declared before creation and a growing desire to reflect the Most High's Justice, Mercy and Love to all of Creation.

In such a state, a conscious being can perceive the Still Small Voice of the Most High in the form of an Omen which is often described as the impression of a silent understanding, as if someone had planted a memory into one's heart long ago, and then suddenly brought it back into conscious awareness.  Thus one is given a perfect Command at the right moment, and when uttered, the cosmos obeys thee as its Steward.

It is important for the student of the Knowledge of the Most High and the Magic of Nature to understand that we do not choose or demand when or where to utter the Command given by Omen.  Rather, as we freely and joyfully walk here and there within our Story of Destiny, keeping the eyes of our hearts focused upon the Most High, it is He who decides when and where the Omen will speak.

From the Book of Wisdom:

Do not trust in your own understanding, your own strength, your own wealth or your own skill.  Instead, trust in the Most High with all of your heart. When you acknowledge Him in all of your ways, He will plant honorable desires in your heart and remove all obstacles in your way.

Place your trust in the name of the Most High, wait on Him and He will do this: He will satisfy your heart with good things and you will rise up with wings like eagles. You will run and not grow weary, you will walk and not be faint.  The joy of the Most High will be your strength. Though your body grows old, your heart will be glad like a child who plays under the umbrella of love.

Search for wisdom with all your heart.  Practice love and faithfulness - write them on the tablet of your heart and bind them around your neck. Then you will win favor and a good name in the eyes of the Most High and the Peoples of the Known World.

Give a portion of your wealth joyfully for the spread of the Knowledge of the Most High to the peoples of the Known World.  Future generations will look back and call you blessed, and your heritage shall be firmly established in the Land of the Living.

A kingdom rejoices when it's rulers act with justice.  But a people fall into tyranny and sorrow when the courts are corrupted, the counselors are filled with deceit, and the streets are patrolled by wolves.

A wise man gives ear to instruction and can receive a rebuke without anger. But a fool despises wisdom and lashes out like a beast.

The heart of a fool blurts out reckless words that destroy friendships, stir up trouble in the city streets, and bring kingdoms to war.  But the words of the wise raise up people of compassion, strength, courage and good cheer.

The humble thankfulness of a poor person has greater value than all the complaining of the rich.

Honor the Most High and give to the poor.

Honor your spouse and do not commit adultery and do not abandon one another.

Honor your parents and take care of them in their old age.

Honor your children and encourage them with your words.

Honor your king and queen and work together to keep the peace and leave a good heritage.

Give honor when honor is due, and give kindness and mercy when it is not.

Do not commit murder.  Blood shall be required as payment for blood.

Do not be consumed with envy and greed - they are a poison to your soul and a weight that shall drag you down into the pit of darkness.

Do not desire something that does not belong to you and do not steal.

Do not plot harm against your neighbor who lives trustfully next to you.  Do not testify falsely against your neighbor.

Do not spread gossip or lies.

Do not quickly receive slander from another.

Do whatever is in your power to live at peace with everyone, and do not hold back charity when your neighbor's hour of trouble comes.

Practice hospitality, even for strangers.  But do not wear out your welcome or take advantage of your neighbor's hospitality.

Do not despair when the wicked have their way, when the tables of justice are upside down. Their wickedness will end swiftly when the people cry out to the Most High for help, when they repent of their evil ways, and when they rise up as one. For the Most High will deliver them and establish peace in their generation.

Though you may fight with all your strength to defend your loved ones, do not seek revenge when you have won the battle.  Do not take justice into your own hands.  Let the Most High decide the balance of justice and mercy, let Him direct the sword of the king.

Though the ones who are closest can pierce the heart the deepest, seek the Most High's mercy and strength to forgive. Leave room for the Most High, for He alone can change the heart from evil to wisdom.

From the Book of Songs:

Why, Most High and Creator, are the tables of justice turned upside down?

Why do the wicked prosper while the righteous and helpless suffer calamity?

My heart grows faint as I wait on Thee - my eyes are clouded and my tongue can hardly speak.

How long, Most High, until you deliver your people from the hands of the wicked?

Do not fret, says the Most High, for though the night is filled with sorrow, joy will come with the morning.

You will look and see the wicked no more - you will search for them and not find them.

You will ask, what was the wicked man's name? And no one will be able to remember.

Come, all who are willing, to the house of the Most High.

Come, let us sing songs of thanksgiving, and let us offer a sacrifice of praise.

Let us proclaim his great truth in the assembly and open our hearts to his instruction.

We remember the deeds you have done for us.

We remember your great love and mercy towards us.

We remember your promise that shines brighter than the struggles of today.

May your light shine upon the path of our feet.

May your strength fill our hearts with hope to carry on.

May we reflect your love, justice and mercy to the world.

May evil and wickedness scatter as your deliverance draws near.

Concerning the Vision of Thorgrim:

In the year 2890, according to the Calendar of the Elves, a Dwarven Cleric named Thorgrim, of the Kingdom of Rok, received a dream from the Most High.  After visiting the Elves of Effrendell to discuss the dream, both the Elves and Thorgrim became convinced that the dream was a prophecy of the coming Agent of Darkness that the Circle of Kings and their Legions will use to spread the Dark Magic of the Undead across the Known World.

And this is what he saw: Behold, a wide plain stretched out before him and four great Dwarven Statues appeared in the morning light of the sun, towering into the sky. They were painted with bright colors and their likeness was the Old Dwarven Gods worshipped by the Peoples of Rok, Barrok, Dobedden Rahsh and Morren. Many Dwarves were sitting in their shadows. Immediately after, a great Valley appeared on the ground before the Dwarven Statues and a Hooded One rose from the darkness. The Hooded One lifted its right hand and behold, a Warrior dressed in armor rose next out of the darkness.  The Warrior lifted his right hand and behold, a great Black Dragon also rose from the darkness and breathed on the Statues of the Dwarves. Three of the Statues faded in color and turned to grey, but the Statue of Dobedden Rahsh held up its shield and resisted the Dragon. Then, as Thorgrim continued to watch, the Grey Statues cracked and fell into pieces, crushing many of the Dwarves below, but some of the Dwarves were able to run to the shadow of Dobedden Rahsh for protection.  Then the Warrior grew larger and covered all the land in shadow and the Dwarves trembled with anger and fear.

But then the sound like that of an Eagle’s Cry was heard and the Warrior shrank in size.  As the Warrior’s shadow decreased, a path was revealed in the light of the sun and the Statue of Dobedden Rahsh with all of its Dwarves escaped to the west. There they arrived at the foot of a High Mountain and behold, a Great Lion was sitting on its peak, and on its shoulder perched a large Eagle wounded from three arrows, and in the Lion’s paws relaxed a Beautiful Woman with a Harp.  Circling Slowly around the Lion were three beings of Living Fire, each with many wings and eyes.  As the Woman began to play music on her Harp, the three Living Fires sang a song. The first, whose name is Justice, called out “Holy is the Most High - He is the same from yesterday!”.  The second, whose name is Mercy, called out “Holy is the Most High – He is the same today!”. And the third, whose name is Love, called out “Holy is the Most High – He is the same forever!”.  Then the Eagle stretched its wings and the wounds from the three arrows were healed. The Eagle let out a cry and the three Living Fires joined together and became the likeness of a Flaming Spear. Then the Lion roared and there was a great earthquake that stretched from the Mountain all the way to the Valley of Darkness, and an unseen hand cast the Spear of Fire from the Mountain, piercing the Warrior through the heart. The Warrior fell back into the Valley dragging the Dragon and the Hooded One with it. Then the Valley closed and they were seen no more.
