Days, Seasons and Years

The Known World is one of seven planets that circle a single sun.

There are two moons that govern the night sky = the Greater and the Lesser Moon.

The names of the heavenly bodies differ from one culture to the next, and typically reflect religious origin stories.

There are two methods for tracking time and days = the Common and the Scholar's method.

The Common Day has four distinct time periods = Dawn, Day, Dusk and Night:

The Scholar's Day has 12 distinct Time Periods (called a Breath or a Sun's Breath = each one twice as long as an hour on Earth):

Both the Common and Scholar's Week have 10 Days (resulting in 3 Weeks per 30-Day Month), and is represented by fingers on both hands.

Both the Common and Scholar's Years have exactly 360 Days (there are no leap days).

Each Year has four Seasons = Spring, Summer, Harvest and Winter. The Year begins with Spring

Each Season is tracked using the cycles of the Lesser Moon, which are exactly 90 Days each.

There are 12 Months per Year. Each Month is tracked using the cycles of the Greater Moon, which are exactly 30 Days each.

 The Common Calendar is based on the Elven Calendar, which is named using major constellations visible from Washonan, Capital of the Middle Elf Kingdom:
