Longbridge is the farthest settlement to the north. There is a modest fortress and town that supports the rural citizens who live in the area. Over the river is Misty Valley and the Northern Mountains with Firestorm Peak, an active volcano.  Beyond the mountains are the Wildlands and no civilized peoples have settled there. For the locals, the river is the real boundary as none of the Royal Guards patrol beyond that point.  Any settlers who cross the river are adventure seekers or fiercely independent families who must learn to protect themselves, for there is a known pass over the mountains that runs along the edge of Firestorm Peak, and some folks have reported seeing wandering monsters in Misty Valley who come from the north.
